Toronto Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a series of break-ins targeting apartment and condominium buildings across the city. Investigators say multiple incidents took place between March and April in different Toronto neighbourhoods, including Queen Street East, Woodbine Avenue, Lakeshore Road East, Dixie Road, Dundas Street West, and Danforth Avenue.
According to police, the suspect allegedly entered underground parking garages, storage locker areas, and parked vehicles inside residential buildings before stealing multiple items and fleeing the scene. In one case, a bicycle was stolen after several storage lockers were forced open.
Police have released an image of the suspect and continue to ask the public for assistance as the investigation remains ongoing.
If you have any information about these incidents, please contact Toronto Police Service or Crime Stoppers. Even small details or surveillance footage could help investigators identify the suspect and prevent future break-ins.
Toronto Home and Apartment Safety Notes: How Condo and Apartment Residents Can Improve Security
- Install security cameras covering entrances
- Use monitored alarm systems in all homes and condo units where permitted
- Never leave valuables visible inside parked vehicles, and make sure they are locked when not in use
- Keep storage lockers secured with high-quality locks
- Make sure underground garage doors fully close behind vehicles
- Report suspicious individuals or tailgating into secure buildings
- Improve lighting in parking garages and common areas
- Use access control systems to limit unauthorized entry
Apartment and condo buildings are often targeted because criminals know there are multiple vehicles, storage lockers, and valuables inside one location, and many times they are left unlocked. Underground parking garages and locker areas can become easy targets when security measures are weak or residents become complacent.
High-definition surveillance cameras are especially important in multi-residential buildings because they help capture clearer images of suspects, vehicles, and licence plates, both during the day and at night. In many investigations, video footage becomes one of the most valuable tools police use to identify suspects and solve crimes.
Visible security systems also help deter criminals before incidents happen in the first place.
