Toronto police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a series of break-ins across the city, many of which were in the Toronto Beaches area.
According to police, the suspect allegedly entered residential buildings, accessed parking garages and locker areas, and stole multiple items before fleeing the scene. Details can be found online on Beaches Metro.
Toronto Beaches Safety Notes - Protect Your Home Accordingly
- Never allow unknown individuals to follow you into secure buildings
- Make sure underground garage doors fully close before driving away
- Install high-definition security cameras in garages, hallways, and entrances
- Use strong locks on storage lockers and avoid storing valuables inside
- Remove valuables from parked vehicles, even in “secure” garages
- Improve lighting in underground parking and common areas
- Report suspicious behaviour or unfamiliar individuals immediately
- Use monitored alarm systems inside condo units where permitted
Condo and apartment buildings are increasingly becoming targets for break-ins because criminals know multiple vehicles, storage lockers, bicycles, and valuables can often be accessed in one location. Underground parking garages and shared entry points can create vulnerabilities when security systems are outdated or residents become too comfortable.
High-definition surveillance cameras are especially important in these environments. Clear video footage can help police identify suspects, vehicles, and licence plates during both daytime and nighttime conditions. In many investigations, security footage becomes the most valuable piece of evidence available.
Visible security systems also help deter criminals before a crime ever happens.
