A Toronto trading card shop has been hit in a bold early-morning break-in, with thousands of dollars in inventory stolen. The owner of Sunny Hobbies in Scarborough says three suspects forced entry around 4:45 a.m., smashing display cases and quickly grabbing high-value trading cards before fleeing. Surveillance footage captured the entire incident, which lasted less than a minute.
According to CityNews, the loss is estimated at roughly $36,000, dealing a major blow to the small business. Police and the store owner believe that there is a high likelihood the store was specifically targeted, as trading cards, including Pokémon and sports cards are highly valuable and easy to resell. Police are continuing to investigate, and no arrests have been made so far.
If you have any information about this incident, please contact Toronto Police Service or your local police division. Even small details could help identify those responsible and prevent further thefts.
